mildly disappointing

I have been slacking on my journal posts. They will be done soon, I promise! I actually got stuck on prompt number three (altered images) and won't let my self move on until I complete it. So now I'm a few days behind :/ But I think I finally figured out how I'm going to do it, so I can get it done and move on.

I was supposed to babysit one of my nieces yesterday and I was so excited. But then my sister decided to call in sick to work so I didn't get to. I know she only called in because she promised to pay me a good amount of money to watch her daughter (because it would've been all day. from like 0515- some time after 1800). And why pay me while she works when she could take a paid sick day instead? I was really disappointed. I mean, the money would've been nice, but I really wanted to spend time with my niece. My son was really looking forward to playing with her all day. And, I spent the last week getting plenty of arts and crafts ready for the kids, getting food that my niece would eat....So yeah, definitely disappointing. I should've known better though. This is the sister that babysat my son for only two weeks when I started a new job, only to decide that she didn't want to anymore because I wasn't paying her enough. I lost that job because I couldn't find a new sitter in time....

Anyway, I have three journal prompts and a bunch of housework to do, so I better get on it. Have a happy day!

woot!

I asked once before if anyone knew the song playing in a General Hospital commercial and got no response :( But luckily, a friend of mine sent me a link yesterday to the General Hospital episode that aired on Monday. Someone we went to high school with had one line in the opening (hes the guy that says "look! up there!" or something right before James Franco falls off the thing). The best thing though, is that the song I've been wondering about is playing in the background. I asked my friend who sang it, and she said Adam Lambert. Well, that gave me enough to start searching and......I found it!!!! Its Mad World by Gary Jules! Woot!

state of emergency

So the Govenator has declared a state of emergency for the county that I live in. It seems we are on fire....again.... Wildfires aren't new to California, we burn every summer. While the fires are a little closer to home then they usually are, I'm still not overly concerned. There's a lot of mountains and a few more towns to go through before it'd get here. It just sucks because its making our air quality a little bit worse, and making all of us congested :(

homemade popsicles

I decided to try out these awesome molds ($1 a piece at Michael's) by making some fruity pops. I had some frozen fruit in the freezer, so I mixed that with some Dannon's Light and Fit vanilla yogurt (only like two or three spoonfuls), two fresh bananas and a little bit of apple juice. The mix made an awesome smoothie, so I'm hoping it makes awesome popsicles as well (they're currently still freezing). These aren't as exciting as Cake-sicles or ice cream cone cakes (I saw blog postings for both today), but I was working with what I had :)

journaling for a cause: prompt 2

Today's prompt was to list some goals for our little journals during this adventure, so this is what I came up with for mine. Staring at this picture though, I've just realized that I need to add "be" next to proactive. Oh well, no journal is perfect :)

journaling for a cause: prompt 1

So today is the first day of Journaling For A Cause, and this is my first page! The prompt was basically :welcome to my insert-five-words-here life :) Well, I did five phrases instead. Its a little bland, but its okay, I know I'll pick up in creativity as the class goes on. I'm using a smaller size notebook then I normally use for journals, and I'm using a graph paper one, which is totally new to me.

I'm super glad to be a part of this. All though its day one, I can already tell that everyone participating is super nice and very talented. And I'm really excited to be able to help Janel with her adoption costs. Adoptions aren't just for celebrities, but they sure are priced like they are. I know that my $10 isn't going to put it over the top, but everybody's $10 together will help out (even if its just a little bit). In that same vein, there are a set of sisters trying to help Janel out by selling friendship bracelets for $5 a piece, and donating $2 from each one to Janel. The bracelets are super cute (I know once I get the money I'll be buying some!), if you'd like some more info on them, view this blog post :)

weekend review

My weekend was alright. We never made it to the beach, which was a bummer because it got really hot here. But well, the other half says he's committed to buying a house this time, so we have to start saving. Of course, he has to buy a house before we get married (because my credit is poor and he doesn't want me on the loan). And once we do get a house (which he says will be the beginning of next year), we'll be broke...so the wedding will have to wait even more. I don't see the point in even planning on one anymore. He will always have an excuse to postpone it.

We did get some new clothes for the kids though, which was awesome because they both need them. And we got Rea a bear walker. She doesn't really try to move in it, but she loves playing with the toy attachments :) We had the same bear walker for Gav when he was a baby, so its kinda sweet that she enjoys it as much as he did. Of course, we bought his when he was a little bit older, so he liked to push around in it. I'm sure Rea will get there soon.

I am super excited for today though. I get to register for Little Feet Repeats (a consignment sale of baby/childrens/maternity clothes, toys, etc that happens twice a year here) and its the start of Journaling for a Cause (run by Janel of Run With Scissors). Once I get to done with the first journal prompt I'll be sure to post it here. I also received (500) Days of Summer via Netflix on Saturday, and I'm hoping to watch it later.

Here's to a super Monday and super week!

its time for......

A giveaway! Not mine though :(

I just entered a sweet *haha* giveaway at Sometimes Sweet! Danielle is hosting it in celebration of her friend's awesome success with her shop (check out the site Duds and Rags). I completely envy anyone that has started and succeeds with owning their own business (I hope to do it myself someday).

What are you waiting for? Check out these sites NOW!

PS Expect me to do a blog feature about Sometimes Sweet in the very near future. I absolutely love it! If you're not reading Danielle's blog already, you're missing out.

my mean people (i need to vent every once in a while)

1) Debt collectors. Why are they so rude and hateful? Don't get cranky at me because you chose a job where you hear a million excuses and upset people a day. Take a vacation! Or get a new job.

2) The customer service people for Citibank- credit card division. Please take the time to listen to what I need before you transfer me to a company that does not have the information! (happened to me six freaking times yesterday!). Also, don't be rude and start yelling at me just because I ask to talk to your supervisor. Learn to work and I wouldn't have to ask.

3) One of the daughters of the manager of my former place of employment. I saw her like two weeks ago and she was totally rude to me. I was perfectly happy pretending that she wasn't sitting at the table next to me but no, she had to come over to start a conversation. And then, she had the nerve to be a bitch and walk off when I was mid-sentence. Nice to know how fake people are. She used to be nice to me when I worked there.

busy bee

I've been busy, its been nice. Although, my definition of busy probably doesn't fit most people's.

Tuesday night the other half and I saw Inception. Great movie! Definitely had the what-the-f ending I'd heard so much about. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt is such a hottie! I've thought so ever since 10 Things I Hate About You.

Wednesday Rea had a doctor's appointment. She got a ton of shots which she was not happy about. We did find out that her head situation is good for now though, which is super (her soft spot was closing too fast and they were worried about her skull bones overlapping). I also found some great things for both of the kids' birthday parties. See, it is a good thing that I started planning early :) When I scrounge up some more money I hope to go back (to Target! my fave store) and get some more.

Thursday......I can't remember what I did. Oh yes, the fighting with debt collectors/Citibank. That took up most of my day and was just emotionally draining.

Today? Well, we were supposed to go to the beach, but the other half decided to try and get a loan to buy a house instead. Hes been gone since like 0900, so I guess even leaving late won't be much of an option (too many people try to take off after work on Fridays...and they all drive like douches lol). Unless he came home like right now, but somehow I doubt he will.

Happy weekend everyone!

so....

The other half already changed his mind. No wedding, not yet. Its disappointing, but I knew that would happen. I was never the type of girl to start planning my wedding at like, age six, like so many girls do. But I did expect that I would someday (theoretically before having children, but that didn't happen). We've had so many false starts that I do now pretty much have my wedding planned. Maybe one day someone will ask me to plan their wedding (a child of mine perhaps?) and I'll finally get to see what it looks like. Or maybe I should be like an event planner. I've been having so much fun thinking of stuff for Gav and Rea's upcoming birthdays. And thinking about the wedding (however briefly I got to) was really fun too.

diets and things

I need to find a diet.

Why?

1)I can't get married at this weight. I just can't
.
2)This is not the summer to be a fatty. Usually we have super high temperatures (hello 110 degrees) and no humidity (its a dry heat lol), but this summer we've been having relatively high temps (high 90s - mid 100s) and super high humidity. Within five minutes of being outside you just get drenched in sweat and that's so disgusting. It also doesn't happen as much when you're skinny.

3)I miss cute clothes/clothes fitting properly!

The other half says that I'll start losing weight when I stop complaining and start doing something about it. Its not that I'm not trying, I just don't know where to start. I've been trying to eat better and not as much, the only thing I'm lacking is a workout plan. He kept saying we were going to get our gym memberships back, but that hasn't happened yet. He believes that running is the only way to get thin. I hate running and would really like an alternative.

Anyone have any diet ideas/healthy food recipes? Or any workout plans that work for you? Please share! I'd be more than happy to hear them :)

happy [?]

I had a happy weekend (for the most part).

I knocked out one of my life ambitions- to eat from a taco truck. That stuff was delicious!! And before you criticize me about it, I believe in having big and small life goals. I guess its like a bucket list, but thinking about death sends me into huge panic attacks, so I like to call them life ambitions instead.

The other half also told me that he is finally ready to set the date. I have heard this before, but I'm hoping that this time is for real.

I've also been thinking about my kids' birthday parties. Yes, I know they're in March, but it doesn't hurt to start planning early :) And it gives me something constructive to do with my days. Being bored makes me depressed, and I have been super bored and super depressed lately.

Here's to a happy week! (Hopefully)

random music question

Has anyone seen the commercial for General Hospital? The one advertising that a serial killer is back and it has James Franco? If you have, do you know the name of the song that's playing in the background? I have been trying to find out the name of that song *forever* and have yet to do so. If you know it, please tell me!! I will be forever grateful!

a lil bit of ugh....but i can't help it

I deleted my other blog early. I was going to do it in two weeks, but I actually got some hateful comments on my last post over there. It was first time getting negative responses to something I'd written and I gotta say, it kinda hurt. Typical me, I ran away from it because my feelings got hurt (of course, my feelings were already a bit hurt this morning, but that's another story). I should have said something to them instead. Oh well. I guess its time for comment moderation.

Sorry for the complaining. Not a great way to start off my new, happy blog :)

i'm on a horse

my first polyvore!

summer hootFashion Trends & Styles - PolyvorePolyvore, and I have to say....I love it!!

I would just like to say.....

...hooray for scheduled posts! I love that I can knock out a few posts when I get a chance, then have them post whenever :) It takes a little bit of the pressure off to keep things fresh and doesn't distract too much from my day. It does, however, make it look like I'm constantly on (since I have them posting in one hour increments...or try to). Well, now you know :)

sometimes he says things that are just so cute

So I really love when I make Gav's hair all spikey and he yells "nooooooooooooooo. thats nemo hair!" then makes it flat. Nemo hair is emo hair, but he gets emo and nemo confused. Its super cute.

love these looks!

buck owens' guitar

These are just replicas, but I've seen the real Buck Owen's red white and blue guitar. When he was alive he used to have it in his office. One year we (my summer day camp) took a tour of his business offices. I don't even think the Crystal Palace was open yet (which is where the guitar is now). Around town (and in the country music business), he was kind of a big deal. I think this guitar is great though. So American, so Fourth of July.

a new beginning

My other blog was getting too mopey. I'm trying this one as a fresh start, something more uplifting and informative. The other one will be for my personal sadness, etc. I have a feeling I will just be flat out deleting it though.
